America picks its strongest men at the San Diego County Fair. Athletes from all over the country compete for the top four spots. These four men will make up Team USA that will compete for the world title later in the year. The competition is intense and the athletes but on a performance that the whole family can appreciate.
The Annual Gospel Festival is a day long event held in late June at the San Diego fairgrounds. There are four stages that offer a great variety of performances. There is also an Oratorical competition for students.
The Harlem West Fest & San Diego Jazz Parade is a one day event featuring jazz, R&B, and blues music and artists. The event is designed to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the San Diego area.
The U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition is held in late July and offers some amazing sand creations by professionals and amateurs a like. It is the largest sandcastle competition in the United States. The weekend long event includes a street fair, great entertainment and live music. Most all of the events are free to the public.
If you need another reason to go to the beach then the US Lifeguard Championships will be held on the beaches of San Diego in early August. There will be a number of competitive events on beaches all around the city.
