Mid-June is a great time to visit New Orleans. There are three major festivals crammed into one weekend. These events offer a mixture of the great food and music that makes New Orleans a unique and special location.
1. The Creole Tomato Festival has been going on for more than twenty years. It centers around the French Market and features cooking demonstrations and live music. Like many New Orleans gatherings, the Creole Tomato Festival is made complete with a parade.
2. The New Orleans Seafood Festival is held on the grounds of the Louisiana State Museum's Old U.S. Mint. You can catch demonstrations for cooking some of the top New Orleans treats like seafood gumbo and crawfish etouffee.
3. The Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival is sure to get your toes to tapping. The event offers live performances on two stages.
Mid-July brings an adult only event. Tales of the Cocktail is a week long event that offers a culinary and cocktail experience not soon to be forgotten (or maybe that's remembered). It offers award winning mixologists, authors, bartenders, chefs and designers.
The Annual Satchmo SummerFest celebrates the life of Louis Armstrong and is held at the old US Mint in late July. There are four stages (including a children's stage in Dutch Alley) that offers live performances throughout the weekend.
New Orleans weather may be hot in the summer, but so are the events that fill the summer months. There is something for every age and every taste going on in this southern town.
